Regina King
Regina King (* 15. January 1971 as Regina King Rene in Los Angeles ) is an American actress . She is a three-time Emmy Award winner . For her portrayal of Sharon Rivers in Barry Jenkins ' film drama If Beale Street Could Talk was 2,019 each in the category Best Supporting Actress with the Oscar and the Golden Globe Award excellent.
Life
King grew up in Los Angeles as the daughter of a teacher and an electrician who divorced in 1979. Her younger sister is the actress Reina King . Regina King took acting lessons from acting teacher Betty A. Bridges , mother of actor Todd Bridges , who got King's first job on television. King attended Westchester High School and left in 1988.
On April 23, 1997 she married Ian Alexander Sr., with whom she has one child. They divorced in 2007.
She was politically committed to the then US presidential candidate and 44th US President Barack Obama .
Career
In 1985, at the age of 14, Regina King starred in the television series 227 . In this sitcom, she embodied the character Brenda Jenkins in 106 episodes and received two nominations for the Young Artist Awards (1985 and 1986). Marla Gibbs ( Mary Jenkins ) and Hal Williams ( Lester Jenkins ) played their parents. After this engagement was a supporting role in Boyz n the Hood - Boys in the quarter as Shalika , being next to Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding Jr. is seen. She also received a Golden Globe Award and a Critics' Choice Movie Award for the film . Since 2019 she can be seen in a leading role in the HBO series Watchmen .
Her directorial debut, One Night in Miami, is set to premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2020 .
