Golden Globe Awards 2016

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards ( English 73rd Golden Globe Awards ) took place on January 10, 2016 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills . The members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) voted on the best American and foreign film and television productions and artists of the previous year, which were honored at a gala dinner.

The nominations were announced on December 10, 2015. The British Idris Elba and Mark Rylance , the American Lily Tomlin and the Swede Alicia Vikander received two nominations each for different productions in the actor categories . None of these were able to translate their nominations into victories.

British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais hosted the event for the fourth time.

The award ceremony was broadcast live on NBC . The broadcast had 18.5 million viewers in the USA, slightly fewer than in the previous year (19.3 million). In Germany, the award ceremony was broadcast for the second time in a row by the pay-TV channel TNT Serie .
