action

God exists and lives with his wife and ten-year-old daughter Éa in Brussels in a high-rise apartment with no entrance or exit. He is a choleric and sadistic god who tyrannizes his family and considers his deceased son Jesus a wimp. He takes pleasure in making life difficult for people with absurd commandments and manipulates their fate via a computer program. His office, in which his PC is located, is absolutely taboo for the family. When his daughter sneaks in anyway, he beats her up.

Éa then decides to rebel against her father. She sends every citizen a message with his personal death date; then it crashes the computer. She takes advice from her brother, who stands as a small figure on the kitchen cupboard: she should flee from her father and find six other apostles outside. To do this, she crawls into the drum of the washing machine and through an adjoining secret passage that leads to freedom. She has never been outside her parents' apartment and finds help from a tramp who is supposed to write down the “Brand New Testament” - that is, her actions and actions - for her.

With the announcement of every single date of death, people change. Many of them fulfill their most ardent wishes, armed conflicts are stopped worldwide. People are no longer afraid. Suddenly God no longer has any power over them. He is horrified and furious because he can no longer use his computer. To capture his daughter, he follows her through the secret passage that ends in a laundromat. But he does not find his way around in reality and because of his bossy character and his rude manner he clashes with everyone. When he finds out that the secret passage has disappeared back into his apartment, he seeks refuge in a church. When he reveals his true identity to the priest, the priest does not believe him, as his idea of the Almighty is in stark contrast to his appearance and appearance in a worn bathrobe and slippers. Eventually God is arrested and is supposed to be deported to Uzbekistan as an allegedly illegal immigrant.

Éa has found six apostles and learned a lot about the people, their dreams and their lives in their search. On the coast, the small group encounters many other people who have gathered there for their final hours. A wide-body airplane , in which God happens to be sitting in the company of a police escort, threatens to crash on the beach and kill everyone there.

In the meantime, God's wife, who blossomed in the absence of her husband, accidentally restarted the computer and found access to the EDP program. She revokes all death dates, whereupon the plane regains altitude and people go on living.

Ultimately, the “Brand New Testament” developed into a bestseller. In the meantime, God has arrived in Uzbekistan and is desperately and unsuccessfully looking for a washing machine that will enable him to return to his home.
