Kurt Franz Erdmann von Gersdorff (born May 11, 1858 in Petershain , Rothenburg district (Ob. Laus.) , † November 14, 1916 in Niemitz Castle near Kauffung ) was a German administrative officer and district administrator of Wittgenstein .

family

Kurt von Gersdorff came from a Protestant, old Oberlausitz noble family. He was the son of the Prussian prime lieutenant and manor owner on Petershain Hugo Wolf Gustav von Gersdorff (1822–1895) and Vally Marie Friederike Valeska Countess von Pfeil and Klein Ellguth (1833–1902). His sister Olga was married to the Prussian Major General Ulrich von Bismarck .

He married on July 31, 1888 in Niemitz-Kauffung Margarete Eva von Niebelschütz (born June 4, 1865 in Niemitz-Kauffung, possibly, † February 26, 1939 in Niemitz-Kauffung, mistress of Niemitz-Kauffung 370 ha), the daughter of the officer Rudolf Adam Maximilian von Niebelschütz and Karoline Ernestine von Uechtritz and Steinkirch . The marriage resulted in two sons and three daughters.

Life

After graduating from high school on March 5, 1879, he entered the Liegnitz Knight Academy . In 1897/80 he did military service as a one-year- old volunteer with the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot in Berlin , where he left as captain of the reserve.

He then studied law in Berlin, Freiburg and Leipzig. On July 3, 1882, he passed the examination to become a court clerk at the Higher Regional Court in Breslau and was appointed court clerk there on September 20, 1882. On January 8, 1885, he was appointed court trainee with the Liegnitz government. In 1888 he passed the examination for court assessor and was appointed court assessor in the Liegnitz government on March 7, 1888.

After working for the Potsdam government on February 27, 1891, he was given the provisional administration of the Wittgenstein district. In September 1891 the district council refrained from naming candidates for election; The recommendation to appoint Kurt von Gersdorff to the district administrator of Wittgenstein was unanimous on May 30, 1891. From 1893 to 1905 he was also a member of the Provincial Parliament for the Province of Westphalia. On May 22, 1905, he was appointed government councilor in the Liegnitz government.

Kurt von Gersdorff was a legal knight of the Order of St. John . He was honored with the Knight's Cross of the Red Eagle Order (IV class). He was appointed a secret councilor.
