Uechtritz ( Uichterritz, Uechteritz, Uechtritz, Ochteritz as well as Uechtritz-Wiedebach , Uechtritz and Steinkirch ) is the name of a Meissen nobility family with the same name as the parent company Uichteritz near Weißenfels on the Saale . The dynasty also has barons and counts who had estates mainly in Lower Silesia, but also in Bohemia, Meissen, Upper Lusatia and the Altmark.

history

One was named first Niclas of Üchtritz (or Niclas de Uchtritz written) in 1225 in a Knights game to Milan, whose assignment is, however, questionable.

It is not even documented whether there was only one family or not two different families with the same name.

In Central Germany, the family first appeared in documents in 1282 and 1292 with Gebhardus de Uchteritz as witnesses to the Counts of Osterfeld and 1304 Gebhardus de Vchteritz in the copial book of the Poor Clare Monastery in Beuditz near Weißenfels .

In Silesia, Johann von Uechtritz auf Steinkirch is first mentioned as mayor of Lauban in 1303/04 . According to this, Dippolt von Üchtritz in 1331 and Petsche von Üchtritz in 1347 are named.

This family appeared in four tribes as early as the 14th century, from which the tribes Schwerta , Steinkirch and Großendorf continued. A connection between the tribes has not yet been documented.

The Steinkircher line split into several branches. The Schwerta tribe died out in 1552 (or 1592?), The castle fell to the Fuga branch and remained in the family's possession until 1638. The branches Fuga, Nieder- and Oberschwerta and Gebhardsdorf were created . The latter expired in 1646 and fell to the Osterholz-Rauenthal branch (expired in 1767). After that, only the Fuga branch continued.

The line Uechtritz-Fuga acquired from 1,738 goods in the duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg associated Wangenheim's court premises Wangenheim, Tüngeda, Hochheim and Haina northwest of Gotha . Later also the Marcaltő manor in Veszprém county in Hungary.

Johann Hartwig von Uechtritz acquired the Lower Silesian castle Tzschocha in 1703 , which with one interruption (from 1755 to 1782) belonged to the family until 1910. There were also branches on Gebhardsdorf, Seiffersdorf and Kauffung ( Schönau district ), Mittel- and Nieder-Steinsdorf ( Goldberg district ), Ober-Herzogswaldau (today Niemstów , Gmina Lubin ) and Mühlrädlitz .

coat of arms

The family coat of arms , which is assumed for both families, shows two upwardly slanted golden keys in shields split by silver and blue . On the helmet two buffalo horns divided by silver and blue across the corner.

The increased coat of arms Uechtritz-Wiedebach is quartered; Fields 1 and 4 show the family coat of arms, 2 and 3 a blue eagle, the chest covered with a lying crescent moon (coat of arms of those von Wiedebach). It has two helmets with blue and silver covers, the right one corresponds to the family coat of arms, on the left three ostrich feathers in the colors silver, blue and silver (von Wiedebach).
