Theodor von Uechtritz

Alexander Theodor von Uechtritz (born March 10, 1809 in Dresden , † February 27, 1889 in Dresden) was a Prussian lieutenant general and representative of the inspector general of the artillery .

Life

origin

Theodor was a son of Joseph von Uechtritz (1768-1837) and his wife Charlotte, née Ernst (1776-1847). His father was the state elder of the Lauban district , Herr auf Heidersdorf (ibid.) And was raised to the imperial nobility on November 25, 1800 . The poet Friedrich von Uechtritz (1800–1875) was his brother.

Career

Uechtritz visited the Berlin Cadet House and was then aggregated on July 25, 1828 as Second Lieutenant of the Guard Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army . For further training he graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1828/30 , was subsequently appointed and classified as an artillery officer. At the end of December 1837 he was appointed adjutant to the 2nd Artillery Inspection and on May 9, 1839 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant . On March 17, 1843 Uechtritz was transferred to the adjutantage and promoted to captain on December 28, 1844 . On December 18, 1847, he became an adjutant at the General Inspectorate of Artillery . On October 10, 1850, he was promoted to major . Then he came on June 27, 1854 as a department commander in the 6th Artillery Regiment. There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 15, 1856 , and on April 30, 1857, he was transferred to the Guards Artillery Regiment as a commander, and from July 1857 onwards he was a member of the examination committee for prime lieutenants of the artillery. Uechtritz rose to colonel at the end of May 1859 . On August 16, 1860 he received the Commander's First Class of the Order of Henry the Lion , on August 28, 1860 the Commander's Cross, Second Class of the Guelph Order , and October 21, 1860, the Commander's First Class of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , the Albrechts Order and already on September 28, 1860 the Commander's Cross II. Class of the Order of Merit of Philip the Magnanimous with Swords, on November 10, 1860 the Commander's Cross of the Oldenburg House and Merit Order . In the following year he was also awarded the Order of the Iron Crown 2nd Class on February 7, 1861 , the Commander of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown on April 11, 1861, and the Commander's Cross 2nd Class of the Military and Civil Service on September 9, 1861. In position à la suite of his regiment, Uechtritz was appointed commander of the Rastatt fortress on October 18, 1861 , and was promoted to major general in mid-March 1863. From April 5, 1864, he was employed as an inspector of the 4th artillery inspection in Koblenz . In this capacity he received the Commander's Cross 1st Class of the Order of the Zähringer Lion on May 13, 1864 . On May 24, 1866, he was entrusted with the management of business as commandant of Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein . He was promoted to lieutenant general on June 8, 1866, was released from his relationship on June 15, 1866, and on July 7, 1866, he was appointed to represent the inspector general of the artillery. On September 10, 1867, he received the Mecidiye Order, 1st class. Under awarded the Red Eagle , First Class with oak leaves Uechtritz was on May 4, 1869 Pension for disposition made. He died in Dresden on February 27, 1889.

Uechtritz married on August 22, 1838 in Broslawitz ( Tarnowitz district ) Brunislawa Countess von Strachwitz (1817–1886) from the house of Groß-Zauche and Comminetz. The couple had several children:
