Friedrich Wiegand von Uechtritz and Steinkirch (born September 17, 1787 in Mittelohland am Rotstein , † June 11, 1845 in Guben ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

His parents were the Electoral Saxon colonel and commander of the Chevauleger regiment "Duke Albrecht" Maximilian Hiob Rudolf von Uechtritz and Steinkirch (* May 20, 1744 - March 10, 1804) and his wife Christiane Charlotte, née von Gersdorff (* December 22 1859–4 January 1827).

Military career

Uechtritz received his school education in the years 1799 to 1802 at the Pädagogium Halle . From 1802 to 1804 he was a page at the Saxon court in Dresden . On May 14, 1805 he came as an ensign in the infantry regiment "Singer" of the Electoral Saxon Army . In the Fourth Coalition War , Saxony fought with the Prussians against the French in the defense of Danzig and in the Battle of Heilsberg . At that time he was promoted to Sous-Lieutenant on January 26, 1807 .

After the war, Saxony switched to the French side. Uechtritz was on September 24, 1808 Prime Lieutenant in the regiment "Cerrini". In the Fifth Coalition War against Austria, he fought in the Battle of Wagram and took part in the battle near Linz. After the Saxon army reform, he was transferred to the 2nd Light Infantry Regiment on December 1, 1810. During Napoleon's Russian campaign, he fought in the Battle of Podobna , where he was awarded the Legion of Honor . On December 29, 1813 he became adjutant to Lieutenant General von Wobeser , who was the commanding general of the Bockadekorps in front of Magdeburg. During the wars of liberation he also took part in the sieges of Torgau and Wittenberg. He also fought at Wavre , Montrouge and Ligny . On October 19, 1814, Uechtritz was appointed adjutant to the General Command of Saxony. For Ligny he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

On March 30, 1815 he came as an adjutant to the 12th Brigade of III. Army Corps, on October 3, 1815, he joined the 4th Brigade of the Mobile Army Corps in France as an adjutant. On March 30, 1816 he was promoted to major there . On March 30, 1817 he became adjutant of the 15th Division and on March 30, 1818, he joined the Düsseldorf Landwehr in the same capacity. The following year, on March 30, 1819, he was transferred to the General Command of the VIII Army Corps as an adjutant . On March 30, 1820, he again became adjutant of the 8th Division. On March 30, 1823, Uechtritz was aggregated to the 32nd Infantry Regiment and on May 13, 1826 was assigned as a battalion commander . On March 30, 1830 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and awarded the service cross . On March 30, 1832, he was assigned to lead the 26th Infantry Regiment . At the same time, from October 4, 1832, he also acted as director of the division school and president of the examination committee for the portepeef ensigns of the 7th division . As early as December 24, 1832, Uechtritz received his appointment as regimental commander. In this position he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1834 with a patent from April 2, 1834 . On September 15, 1838 he was awarded the Order of St. John and on October 5, 1838 with the Order of St. Anne II. Class. On March 20, 1839 he was appointed commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade and Uechtritz was aggregated to the 26th Infantry Regiment at the same time. So he became major general on September 10, 1840 and received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves , on September 12, 1842 . In 1843 his health deteriorated to the point that Uechtritz asked for another use. On March 30, 1844, he became the commandant of Jülich Fortress . Due to his poor health, Uechtritz did not take this position. He then submitted his farewell one who gave him on 11 April 1844 award of the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory pension was granted.

Uechtritz married Charlotte Friederike von Blücher on February 6, 1809 in Buderose (* November 14, 1788; † October 30, 1864). Her parents were the Saxon major Franz August von Blücher (* October 5, 1747 - February 15, 1833) and his wife Erdmuthe, born von Saul (* February 14, 1757 - July 21, 1819), a granddaughter of Ferdinand Ludwig from Saul .
