Anastasius Adam OFMConv (* 1795 in Oberdorf near Solothurn , † February 28, 1848 in Solothurn) was a Swiss clergyman and a member of the Order of the Minorites (Franciscan Conventuals).

Life

Anastasius Adam's parents ran a dairy in Oberdorf.

Due to a head injury that he sustained as a child while collecting wood in the forest, he was appointed to the Solothurn surgeon Dr. Surgeon Leonhard Reuschlin and stayed with him for a long time for care and treatment in the house. With the support of the doctor, he was able to study with the consent of his parents. He completed his high school and philosophical studies at the college in Solothurn and entered the novitiate of the Strasbourg Province of the Minorite Order ( Provincia Argentina Conventualium ) in Freiburg in 1815 , where he took the solemn religious vows in 1816 . After completing his studies in the Order, he was ordained a priest in 1819 . He continued his studies and was particularly influenced by Gregor Girard OFMConv .

Anastasius Adam was a teacher of his order in the monastery in Freiburg for some time and later a member of the educational authority in Solothurn. In 1833, the higher educational institution of the canton was transformed into the higher teaching and educational institution of the canton of Solothurn , today's Cantonal School of Solothurn . Anastasius Adam provisionally took over the professorship for philosophy there until the designated Dr. Josef Anton Dollmayer from Munich arrived.

In Solothurn he was a cathedral preacher and held the position of a religious superior of the Minorite monastery and the provincial of the Franciscan conventuals in Switzerland, which at that time had four male and three female monasteries. In this capacity he tried to prevent the government from abolishing the monastery; the monastery was not abolished until 1857.

After his death he was buried in the cloister of the Franciscan monastery in Solothurn.
