The BTR-T ( Russian Бронетранспортёр-Тяжелый ) is a heavy Russian infantry fighting vehicle based on a modified T-55 chassis.

description

During the First Chechen War , BTR-80 and BMP-2 armored personnel carriers were frequently hit by Chechen rebels with RPG anti-tank hand weapons. Therefore, the BTR-T was developed for the Russian army , with stronger armor and also better armament.

The turret of the BTR-T can be equipped with various weapon systems:

The standard armament is the Schipunow 2A42 automatic cannon with a combat rate of 200 rounds and 3 anti-tank guided missiles 9K113 Konkurs. The BTR-T also carries 12 smoke grenades.
