Jeffrey Tambor
Jeffrey Michael Tambor (born July 8, 1944 in San Francisco , California ) is an American film actor .
Life
Jeffrey Tambor grew up in a conservative Jewish family and, because of his modest family background - his mother was a housewife, his father a floor layer - is considered in Hollywood to be someone who made the dream of becoming a millionaire dishwasher . Tambor graduated from San Francisco State University , and then moved to Wayne State University in Detroit ( Michigan ), where he studied drama and received his degree.
After minor appearances in smaller theaters, he made his television debut in 1977 in an episode of the television series Kojak - Use in Manhattan . Between 1979 and 1980 Tambor was in the short-lived sitcom The Ropers in front of the camera, which first brought him notoriety. Since then Tambor has been committed to over 120 television series and feature films. Two more times he was the leading actor in a television series. For one, Tambor was in 90 episodes of the Larry Sanders Show from 1992 to 1998 and was nominated four times for the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Sitcom . In 2003 he was employed for the second time as a member of the regular cast of a television program. In Arrested Development , Tambor was present on the screen in 53 episodes from 2003 to 2006. In May 2013, the series returned to the video-on-demand provider Netflix for 15 new episodes in which he took up his role again. He received two other Emmy nominations for this role. In 2015 Tambor received a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Actor in a Series - Comedy or Musical and an Emmy Award in the category Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the Amazon series Transparent .
Tambor was also in front of the camera for feature films. However, he was mostly in demand in supporting roles rather than as a leading actor.
