Peter Sohn (* 1977 in New York ) is an American animator , voice actor , screenwriter and film director .

Life

Peter Sohn was born in the Bronx to Korean immigrants and raised in New York City . His mother often took his son and brother to the movies. Because his mother didn't understand English very well, she often chose Disney films, which mostly worked on a visual level. This sparked Sohn's interest in animation . He took his first animation courses during school and later studied for four years at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

During his studies he met Brad Bird , who arranged for him to work as an inbetweener for the film The Giant from Space . After completing his studies, son worked for a year at Disney Television and later for Warner Bros. On the recommendation of Brad Bird, he moved to Pixar in 2000 , where he was to work on Bird's film The Incredibles . Since this was still in development, Son first helped with the work on Finding Nemo . In 2004 he started working as a voice actor for animation characters.

Son was also the inspiration for the character of Russell in the Pixar film Top from the same year. He wrote the screenplay and directed the short film Partially Cloudy , which was shown in the cinema as a supporting film in front of Oben . In the film George & AJ, which is also based on above , son also speaks Russell .

In 2015, Sohn took over the direction of the animated film Arlo & Spot . For this he had delivered the story for the script.

He is married to the artist Anna Chambers, whom he met while studying at CalArts.
