Jennifer Jason Leigh (* 5 February 1962 as Jennifer Lee Morrow in Hollywood , Los Angeles ) is an American actress .

Life

Jennifer Jason Leigh is the daughter of actor Vic Morrow and screenwriter Barbara Turner , who divorced when Jennifer was two years old. She has an older sister named Carrie Ann Morrow and a younger half-sister, actress Mina Badie . The name "Jason" in her pseudonym goes back to the actor Jason Robards , who was a friend of her family.

As a teenager, she took part in Lee Strasberg's method acting workshops . In 1982 her father shot the episode film Eerie Shadow Lights with director John Landis . During filming, a daring stunt resulted in an accident in which her father and two child actors were killed in a crashing helicopter .

Jennifer Jason Leigh often selects dramatic roles, which she prepares with extensive research. She celebrated successes with, among others, The Last Exit Brooklyn (1989), Backdraft - Men Who Go Through Fire (1991) and Female, Single, Young Seeks ... (1992). She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Dorothy Parker in Mrs. Parker and her vicious circle . Her performance as Daisy "Die Gefangene" Domergue in Quentin Tarantino's Western The Hateful Eight (2015) earned her an Oscar nomination and another Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actress.

From 2005 to 2013 she was married to the director Noah Baumbach , with whom she has a son.
