Rob Lowe
Robert Hepler "Rob" Lowe ( ˈrɒb ˈloʊ ; born March 17, 1964 in Charlottesville , Virginia ) is an American actor who belongs to the so-called Brat Pack .
Life
Childhood and youth
Rob Lowe was born to Barbara Lynn Hepler, a teacher, and Charles Davis Lowe, a lawyer. His parents divorced early. In addition to his brother Chad Lowe , who is also an actor, he has two half-brothers. He is deaf in his right ear because of a childhood viral infection. He is a member of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America . His father is of German, Irish and English descent and his mother is of Welsh, Scottish and English descent. He grew up in Dayton , Ohio and attended Oakwood Junior High School before moving to Malibu , California with his mother and brother , where he attended Santa Monica High School .
Partnerships
Lowe was dating actress Melissa Gilbert from 1981 . After Lowe's affair with actress Nastassja Kinski , the couple separated in 1986. After a brief relationship with Stéphanie von Monaco , he reunited with Gilbert, became engaged to her and planned a wedding for the summer of 1987. When Gilbert informed him that she was was pregnant, he separated from her again. Shortly afterwards, she suffered a miscarriage.
On July 22, 1991, Lowe married makeup artist Sheryl Lynn Berkoff. The two had known each other for a long time and met and made friends while filming Deathfriends - Bad Influence . They have two sons together.
Career
His first role on camera was Lowe 1979 in the lead role of Tony Flanagan in the ABC - sitcom A New Kind of Family , which was discontinued after only one season. In 1983 he made his cinema debut in the drama The Outsiders directed by Francis Ford Coppola, alongside Matt Dillon , Tom Cruise , Emilio Estevez , Ralph Macchio , C. Thomas Howell and Patrick Swayze . Through other films such as Class , Oxford Blues , St. Elmo's Fire - The Passion Burns Deep , Bodycheck and Again like last night, Rob Lowe is at the core of the Brat Pack .
His biggest series role was that of Sam Seaborn, which he impersonated from 1999 to 2006 in the series The West Wing - In the Center of Power and for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Series - Drama in 2000 and 2001 . From 2006 to 2010 he starred in the first four seasons of the television series Brothers & Sisters in the role of Senator Robert McCallister. From 2010 he had a greater role in the mockumentary - comedy series Parks and Recreation , which left it mid-season six, 2014.
With the television film Desert's Eagle , Lowe made his debut as a director and screenwriter in 1997. He also appeared as a producer and, in addition to the 2011 drama I Melt with You, also produced the television series Dr. Vegas and the western The James Gang .
Scandals
Sex tapes
In 1988 video footage was released showing Lowe having sex with a 16-year-old girl. Lowe stated that he did not know about the minority. Another part of the video showed Lowe and his friend, producer Justin Moritt, having sex with a model in a Paris hotel. The video went on sale and sparked a scandal.
Litigation with domestic workers
In April 2008, Lowe sued three former nannies for breach of contract, defamation, and willful emotional distress. He filed a lawsuit against one of the nannies for having been involved in a system of spreading "malicious lies" about him. He filed another lawsuit alleging that he had an affair with him, that he was sexually molested by him and that his wife was an abusive employer. Lowe also alleged that his former chef used his property to have sex while he was away, that he stole prescription drugs, destroyed security cameras, and called his wife a cold, heartless, and unclean person.
A Lowes nanny filed twelve headings lawsuits, including sexual harassment and occupational safety and health violations. On June 19, 2008, two of these points were dismissed due to a lack of legal basis. The entire litigation ended in May 2009 with all lawsuits, both by the nannies and the Lowes, being dismissed by the court.
