The archive news from Hessen is the central specialist journal of the Hessen archives . They are published by the Hessian State Archives in cooperation with the Association of German Archivists e. V. / Landesverband Hessen (VdA) and the Association of Hessian Municipal Archivists (VhK). The archive news is the successor organ of the messages from the Hessian state archives , which appeared from 1975 to 1995, and are available free of charge.

After a six-year break, they have been published regularly since 2001: initially once, later twice a year. Until 1995, the requirements were primarily aimed at officials and archive staff, since then a broad public has been the target audience. In 2015, the layout was fundamentally revised. From the end of 2015, the archive news from Hessen will be supplemented by the online newsletter HessenArchiv aktuell , which can be subscribed to via the homepage of the Hessian State Archives. The headquarters of the editorial office for archive news and newsletters is at the Hessian Main State Archive in Wiesbaden .

On approx. 80 to 100 pages, the reader receives information on topics related to regional history and archival science. He is also informed about the latest news from the Hessian archive landscape.
