Chad Lowe

Charles Conrad Lowe (born January 15, 1968 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an American actor , film director and film producer . He is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe .

Life

Charles Conrad Lowe was born to Barbara Lynn Hepler, a teacher, and Charles Davis Lowe, a lawyer. His parents divorced early. In addition to his brother Rob Lowe , he has two half-brothers. He is a member of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America . His father is of German, Irish and English descent. His mother of Welsh, Scottish and English descent. He grew up in Dayton , Ohio before moving to Malibu , California with his mother and brother , where he attended Santa Monica High School .

Chad Lowe started out with teenage roles appropriately for his age. The then 16-year-old Lowe played the leading role of Spencer Winger in the eponymous sitcom Spencer from 1984 to 1985. He unexpectedly left the series, which was shortly thereafter discontinued. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he starred in several television and independent films such as Shadow of Fame , Hands Off Stefanie! and highway to hell with.

After Lowe directed the two short films The Audition and The Space Between in 2000 and 2002 , he produced and directed the comedy film Beautiful Ohio in 2006 with William Hurt , Rita Wilson and Michelle Trachtenberg in the leading roles. In addition, he directed several episodes of series such as Bones , Pretty Little Liars and Without a Trace .

Chad Lowe was married to actress Hilary Swank from 1997 to 2007 . When she received her first Academy Award in 2000 for her role in the drama Boys Don't Cry , she forgot to thank her husband, so she apologized every subsequent appearance. When she received her second award in 2005, for her starring role in the Clint Eastwood- directed sports drama Million Dollar Baby , Lowe was the first person to thank her. On January 9, 2006, the two announced their split, and in May 2006 they filed for divorce, which was consummated on November 1, 2007. The marriage remained childless.

On January 19, 2009, it was announced that Lowe was dating Kim Painter, Carrie Fisher's former assistant , and that the two were expecting their first child in the summer of 2009. Their daughter was born on May 16, 2009. The couple married on August 28, 2010. Lowe and his wife have three daughters.
