Michelle Christine Trachtenberg (born October 11, 1985 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress . She became known for the role of Dawn Summers in the television series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer .

biography

Trachtenberg was born into a Jewish family of Russian-German origin, which is why she speaks fluent Russian in addition to English. As a child, she attended a school for the gifted and later attended Bay Academy Junior High School in Brooklyn before moving to California with her mother. There she attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles , from 2002 and graduated with honors in social studies and religion the following year.

She shot her first commercial at the age of three , which has been followed by around 100 more to date. When she was eight, she moved from New York to Los Angeles with her mother , while her father and older sister stayed in New York. Her first big role was in 1996 that of Harriet in Harriet, the little detective . In the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer , she played the little sister of Buffy Summers, Dawn. In 2004 she starred as Celeste in several episodes of the Six Feet Under series. She currently lives in Los Angeles. In early 2007, she made a cameo with her Buffy colleague Seth Green in the music video for This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race by Fall Out Boy . From 2008 to 2012 she played the role of Georgina Sparks in the US television series Gossip Girl in several episodes per season.

In addition to acting, Trachtenberg is actively involved in combating alcohol and drug abuse. She was the spokesperson for several aid organizations such as RADD , DARE and The Starlight Foundation . This commitment followed an invitation from US President Bill Clinton and so she became a representative for his "Coalition for a Drug Free America" ​​campaign.
