Desire - The Hunger (Original Title: The Hunger ) is a Canadian - British - American horror - anthology - television series . It was first broadcast on July 20, 1997 on The Movie Network , Showtime and Syfy (then called SciFi ). The series is loosely based on the film Desire , the original title of which is also The Hunger . Each episode has an independent story that is introduced and concluded by a narrator. The narrator of the first season was the actor Terence Stamp , the narrator of the second season the singer and actor David Bowie , who already played a role in the original.
The series was co-produced by Tony and Ridley Scott , who were also behind the project.
The series was first seen in German-speaking countries in 2004 on Tele 5 . Even today, eoTV broadcasts at irregular intervals .
