Ralph George Macchio (born November 4, 1961 in Huntington , Long Island , New York ) is an American actor and a teenage star of the 1980s.

life and career

Ralph Macchio's acting career began with an engagement in the American television series Eight is Enough . He got his first film role in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film The Outsider , in which he played the role of greaser Johnny Cade .

Macchio became known to a wide audience through the character Daniel LaRusso , who he embodied in the Karate Kid trilogy . The role of Daniel LaRusso , which made him a teenage star in the 1980s, remained his biggest success so far.

In 2011 he was part of the twelfth season of the television show Dancing with the Stars , the American equivalent of Let's Dance .

In April 2012, he assumed the role of psycho - screenwriter Joseph Stefano in the biopic Hitchcock .

In 2018 he slipped back into the role of Daniel LaRusso , from the Karate Kid films, in the series Cobra Kai .

Macchio has been married since 1987 and has two children.
