Kevin Can Wait is a 2016 American sitcom broadcast by CBS . The main role is played by Kevin James . It is his second series as the main cast on CBS after King of Queens . It premiered in the United States on September 19, 2016 on CBS.
In Germany and Austria, the series was published on December 20, 2016 by the video-on-demand provider Amazon Prime .
On free TV, RTL Nitro has been showing the series in the evening program since June 18, 2018.
On May 12, 2018, the series was canceled after two seasons.

Police officer Kevin is newly retired and lives in New York City with his wife, two daughters, son and nerd son-in-law . Kevin has to top up his pension as a security employee because of excessive expenses, but he does not find a pleasant job for himself, which is why he takes several jobs and quits again. In the course of the series, more and more problems arise, which are usually solved by the end of the episode.

In October 2015, it was announced that 13 episodes of a new sitcom starring Kevin James had been ordered by CBS. The pilot episode was filmed on April 1, 2016, the following episodes have been recorded since August 5, 2016. The series was shot exclusively on Long Island , at Gold Coast Studios in Bethpage, New York , in Nassau County.
Due to good audience ratings, the series initially received a so-called back nine order of nine additional episodes on October 17, 2016 . On January 6, 2017, two more episodes were ordered, making the first season a total of 24 episodes.
Two months later, on March 23, 2017, CBS extended the series for a second season. This experienced a creative reorientation. So was Leah Remini promoted to leading lady while after her guest appearance in the final two episodes of the first season in June 2017 Erinn Hayes no longer belonged to the cast. In December 2017, CBS ordered two more episodes, making the second season a total of 24 episodes.
The series was canceled after the second season.

The site's critical consensus is as follows, " Kevin James shows a personable, amiable lead character, but Kevin Can Wait relies too heavily on predictable, non-funny jokes and a series of boring and lackluster subplots to stand out from the crowd of existing comedy series."
