Leah Marie Remini (born June 15, 1970 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American actress of Austrian - Italian descent. She was best known for her role as Carrie Heffernan on the sitcom King of Queens .

Career

Remini's entry into the film scene began with a commercial for motor oil. She was seen for the first time on television in the series Great Class , which was broadcast on the ProSieben television channel in 1991 . Then followed a role in Who's the Boss? , from which a spin-off under the title Living Dolls was developed, in which she played a leading role. She also starred in Spelling Soap California High School and the sitcom Daddy Can Make Us All . In addition to guest appearances in Diagnosis: Mord , New York Cops - NYPD Blue and Friends , Remini also played Rhea Perlman's rebellious daughter Sarafina in the classic sitcom Cheers . Leah Remini's father, George Remini, owned an asbestos removal company ; his ancestors came from Sicily. Her mother Vicki Marshall has Austrian-Jewish roots and ran a school. Her parents divorced in 1977. Remini has one sister and four half-sisters. Leah Remini was initially baptized Catholic, but converted to the Church of Scientology with her mother at the age of nine. Since she was 14, when she left school, contrary to her mother's advice, she had been doing various jobs.

On July 19, 2003, Remini married her fellow actor Angelo Pagan , and a documentary of the wedding was broadcast on the VH1 series (Inside) Out . The couple has a daughter (* 2004).
