Fat Actress is an American sitcom - miniseries in 2005 by Kirstie Alley and Scott Butler .

It tells the everyday life of the heavyweight, formerly successful and sought-after actress Kirstie Alley , who after her moderate success in recent years is trying to regain a foothold in Hollywood . Her biggest problem is being overweight , so she tries to lose weight with diets and other unsuccessful methods. She receives support from stylist Kevyn and her assistant Eddie, who is waiting for his chance as an actor himself. At any cost, Kirstie wants to get another engagement in a series or film and is constantly trying to convince Hollywood celebrities to give her a chance or to help.
The series is based in part on the real life of Kirstie Alley , but the stories in the series are fictional. Various Hollywood personalities have made guest appearances, mostly portraying themselves:

Background and DVD release
Fat Actress was produced by Showtime and first aired March 6 through April 18, 2005. In Germany, the series was shown for the first time by VOX from April 3 to 10, 2006. A second season was initially reported in the media, but the series was not continued.
The pilot episode was available free of charge as a video stream on Yahoo.com at the same time as it was broadcast on television .
The fourth episode, The Carp Effect , was not broadcast by VOX because the story did not fit the VOX program and was less successful in the USA. The fourth showed the series in full in April and May 2007.
On May 24, 2005, the complete series was released in the United States and Canada in a box set on two DVDs . The discs are available individually. In Germany, the series was released on DVD on November 22, 2005, significantly earlier than the first broadcast on German free TV . On June 27, 2008, another DVD edition was released in Germany with the title Ein pfundiger FUN .
