Amy Beth Schumer (* 1. June 1981 in New York City , New York ) is an American stand-up - comedian , actress and screenwriter and Emmy Award -Preisträgerin. She was best known for her comedy series Inside Amy Schumer .

Life

Amy Beth Schumer was born in Manhattan to Sandra and Gordon Schumer. Her mother worked as a hearing and speech therapist and her father, Charles Schumer's cousin , owned a children's furniture store. Amy Schumer has an older brother, Jason, who is a musician, and a younger sister, Kimberly, who was a school psychologist in Chicago before moving to New York to write and produce on Schumer's television projects. Schumer was raised in the Jewish faith , her father is Jewish.

When Schumer was nine years old, her father developed multiple sclerosis and his furniture business went bankrupt. Three years later, her parents divorced and Schumer moved to Long Island with her mother . There she attended the South Side High School in Nassau County . After graduating from high school in 1999, Schumer moved to Baltimore , Maryland , where she studied theater studies at Towson University until 2003 . During her studies she already appeared in various theater productions. She then went to New York City, where she took two years of acting classes at the William Esper Studio and also worked as a waitress.

On February 13, 2018, Schumer married the cook and farmer Chris Fischer in Malibu . Their son was born on May 5, 2019.

Career

Schumer began her career as a stand-up comedian with an appearance at New York's Gotham Comedy Club on June 1, 2004. In 2007, she appeared on the fifth season of NBC talent show Last Comic Standing , in which she came in fourth. The following year she was seen on the comedy show Reality Bites Back . She has appeared on various television shows, comedy shows, and Comedy Central Roasts . From 2013 she was best known for her own comedy series Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central . The series and Schumer have been nominated for several television awards, including a. the Primetime Emmy Award , American Comedy Award, and the Writers Guild of America Award . In May 2015, Inside Amy Schumer received a Peabody Award and Schumer received the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series . In April 2015 she hosted the MTV Movie Awards .

In 2015 she appeared in Judd Apatow's comedy Dating Queen, alongside Bill Hader and LeBron James . The script for the film comes from Schumer, which is the first time Apatow made a film that he had not written himself. Since there was a rampage during a screening of the film , Schumer has advocated stricter gun controls in the United States.

Schumer was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the 2016 Pirelli calendar .

Time magazine ranked Schumer among the 100 most influential people of 2015, with Schumer featured by actress Tilda Swinton .

In 2016 she published an autobiographical book called The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo . It was published in German with the title Inside Amy Schumer: From my life in September 2016.

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
