Delocated (even ! Delocated ) is an American comedy - television series in the style of a mockumentary . It was invented and largely written by comedian and musician Jon Glaser , who also plays the leading role.

action

After "Jon" testified against the Russian Mafia , he, his wife "Susan" and his son "David" were included in the witness protection program under these aliases . Bored of living in the suburbs, Jon accepts a television broadcaster's offer to film a docu-soap about his family's life. In order not to be recognized on television, the three must wear balaclavas continuously and distort their voices with a pitch- changing device .

The family moves to New York City for the show , where the broadcaster promised them a loft apartment . However, this turns out to be a one-room apartment. Annoyed and shocked that Jon is putting her and her son's lives on the line for the show, Susan leaves her husband as soon as they arrive in New York. Whereupon, on the advice of his Federal Agent Mike, Jon immediately meets with other women.

Due to the success of the show "Delocated", the killer who is targeted on Jon also receives his own reality show about his life. This shows not only his hunt for Jon, but also his attempts to gain a foothold as a stand-up comedian in New York.

background

The idea of the series is based on a character from Glaser's stand-up program . A voice impersonator has been included in the witness protection program and still wants to continue performing. However, he can only do this by putting on a balaclava and using a device to change the pitch , which means that all imitations sound the same.

The series' pilot was first broadcast untitled on April 1, 2008 in a block of new or unfinished pilots by the US broadcaster Adult Swim . On February 12, 2009 the regular series start of the first season with seven episodes took place on the same channel for which Delocated was the first real film in-house production. The second season with 12 episodes started on August 22, 2010, the third with ten episodes on February 2, 2012.

The seven episodes of the first season had a length of 11 minutes each. Since the second season, the episodes are 22 minutes long.

The first two seasons were released on January 17, 2012 in the US on DVD. In addition to the episodes, there are audio comments, deleted scenes, outtakes and a promo video with which Glaser sold the series to the broadcaster.

Due to Kevin Dorff's engagement as a writer and performer for the shows Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien , his character Federal Agent Mike died with the beginning of the second season and Droff was thus written out. For the third season he was active again as a screenwriter.

One year after the third season was broadcast, another episode was broadcast on March 7, 2013, which ended the series as the finale.
