Comedy Central Roast is a series of roasts produced by Comedy Central that was first recorded in 2003.
format
The audience is guided through the show by a roastmaster . A celebrity takes a seat on the stage, while various other celebrities take turns at a lectern and make mockery on the roastee . Seth MacFarlane has hosted the event three times and is the record holder in this regard. Some roastees have stated that certain topics are off-limits to them. Pamela Anderson, for example, banned jokes about her hepatitis C infection. Joan Rivers asked that no jokes be made about her daughter. Others like David Hasselhoff and Charlie Sheen did not set any limits on their roasts . Sheen had a joke about his mother removed before it aired .
