Classified road network

As a classified road network are roads called that part of a higher-local road network are. They are usually designated with the street category and a number, e.g. B. Bundesstraße 3 , Droga krajowa 4 or EN1 .

The classification is based on the traffic importance of the road. From the classification, the carrier of the road construction load outside of the town through traffic is derived , so the corresponding federal state is responsible for the maintenance of the state roads. It is possible to switch between different categories; for example, federal highways that run parallel to new motorways are often downgraded to state or district roads.
