Sean Patrick Hayes (born June 26, 1970 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor .

Life

Sean Hayes studied music at Illinois State University, but dropped out. At times he was active as a pianist , he was also a member of the group The Second City . In 1995 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a comedian . In 1996, he made his debut as a film actor in the short film A&P , in which he starred. He also took on the lead role in the 1998 comedy Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss .

He was best known for the role of Jack McFarland in the television series Will & Grace , which he played from 1998 to 2006. For this role he was nominated for a Golden Globe from 2000 to 2005 . In the same years he was also nominated for an Emmy Award , which he won in 2000. In 2000 he was nominated for the American Comedy Award and won one in 2001. In 2001, 2003 and 2004 he was nominated for the Golden Satellite Award . From 2000 to 2005 he was nominated for the Teen Choice Award every year , which he won in 2000, 2001 and 2004. He also won several Screen Actors Guild Awards , most recently in 2006 .

After the end of Will & Grace , Hayes starred in various television series, mostly sitcoms, including 30 rock . From April 2010, Hayes starred alongside Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway in New York in the musical Promises, Promises in the role of Chuck Baxter. On April 9, 2012, he made a guest appearance on WWE Raw, the main show of World Wrestling Entertainment . In 2014, he starred in the NBC sitcom Sean Saves the World , the series came on a season.

Sean Hayes is gay. In November 2014, he married his long-term partner.
