John Stamos
John Phillip Stamos (born August 19, 1963 in Cypress , California ) is an American actor and musician of Greek and Irish origin, known from the television series Full House .
Life
John Stamos was born in 1963 in California, the oldest of three siblings. He has two younger sisters who both work as teachers. The real surname of the family was Stamatopoulos (Gr. Σταματόπουλος); when his grandparents immigrated to America from Greece , they shortened their name to Stamos.
Stamos became known through the US television series Full House . From 1987 to 1995 he played the role of Jesse , who was also of Greek origin. In the first season of Full House , Jesse was last named Cochran , but the show's producers, at Stamos' request, changed the last name from Cochran to Katsopolis to emphasize his Greek origins. In his private life, Stamos has a close relationship with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen , who alternately played his niece Michelle on the series Full House .
In addition to acting, Stamos had ambitions to break through as a musician. He plays several instruments including guitar, piano and drums. In addition, Stamos is passionate about singing. He wrote many of the songs in the Full House series himself. He has appeared as a guest musician at The Beach Boys concerts since 1985 , and the band has appeared in Full House . They also recorded the song Forever in 1992 , which Stamos produced for the Beach Boys' album Summer in Paradise . The song was written by Dennis Wilson and appeared in the 70s on the album Sunflower , which Stamos declared to be his personal favorite album of the Beach Boys.
He worked as a producer for the comedy series Jake in Progress , which was broadcast on the American broadcaster ABC on March 13, 2005 . The first season comprises 13 episodes, the second season was filmed in Los Angeles and New York in the fall of 2005 and premiered in the spring of 2006. The series was canceled after the second season.
After he had already played a two-episode guest role as a paramedic in the successful US hospital series Emergency Room in November 2005 , he was Tony Gates' permanent cast from the beginning of the 13th season from 2006 to 2009.
In March 2006 he was one of the voice actors in the movie The Crazy Voyage of the Penguins , a cartoon parody of the hit documentary The Voyage of the Penguins (2005). This film was directed by Bob Saget , a fellow actor from Full House . The film was originally scheduled to open in cinemas in 2006, but was then withdrawn and released on DVD in the USA in January 2007.
In the summer of 2006 he made the television film Wedding Wars in Canada . From December 2006 to January 2007 he was in Toronto with rapper P. Diddy for the TV drama A Raisin in the Sun , which is about an African-American family who have to fight against racism .
From 2015 to 2019, a sequel to Full House was produced on behalf of Netflix with Fuller House . Stamos u. a. alongside Franklin, Miller and Boyett as executive producer and also appeared on the series himself.
Stamos was also active as a moderator. B. Elvis: The Tribute (1994) and The List (1999-2001). He is also involved in various charities: He supports the Vanguard Cancer Foundation , which works for cancer patients, and is a member of the Starlight Foundation , which enables sick children to meet “their” stars. On September 25, 2005, he and the Beach Boys gave a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Katrina . He also hosted the Vanguard Cancer Foundation's Blast from the Past gala on October 8, 2005 . On November 16, 2009, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
On September 19, 1998, Stamos married the actress Rebecca Romijn , who at that time was still working and known as a photo model . The marriage was divorced on March 1, 2005. In February 2018 he married the US model Caitlin McHugh , and their son was born in April.
