Robert Wisdom (born September 14, 1953 in Washington, DC ) is an American actor .

Life

Robert Wisdom was born to Jamaican parents. The second of three children, he grew up in Washington, DC. He attended St. Alban's School and decided against his athletic scholarship as a runner and for Columbia University during his academic career . There he graduated in history and sociology in 1976 . During his senior year in college, he began acting at university and, against the advice of his lecturer, opted for banking training. After a few years he returned to Washington, where he produced shows for the National Public Radio and occasionally also organized theater productions. This also brought him to London , where he was encouraged to take acting a little more seriously. He himself auditioned for various theater productions and was able to successfully take part in some. He gave up his job and from 1990 was on the road for several years on various theater stages in England and Scotland.

His first film role in the comedy Blackout - A Detective Seeks Himself , at the side of Kevin Pollak , James Earl Jones and Dana Carvey , started his Hollywood career. He has since appeared in successful films such as In the Body of the Enemy , The Apartment Schreck and Ray and has played major roles in television series such as The Wire , Prison Break , Supernatural , Happy Town and Nashville .
