Dana Thomas Carvey (born June 2, 1955 in Missoula , Montana ) is an American actor and comedian .

Life

The comedian Carvey began his television career on the legendary comedy show Saturday Night Live , for which he wrote various skits between 1986 and 1993, parodied celebrities (including George Bush Sr. , Woody Allen and Johnny Carson ) and impersonated numerous different roles. One of these roles was the friendly-naive rocker Garth Algar , who experienced adventures in many skits alongside his friend Wayne Campbell ( Mike Myers ). These two characters were so successful that two feature films were produced with them in 1992 and 1993 ( Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2 ). He also played in successful productions such as Archie and Harry - You Can't Leave It and Welcome to Wellville . In 1997 he had to undergo a serious and complicated heart operation with protracted consequences.

The passionate drummer Carvey also had a cameo appearance in the music video for We Are All Made of Stars by Moby .
