Blackout - A detective seeks himself (Alternative title: Blackout - And daily greet the crooks ; Original title: Clean Slate ) is an American crime comedy from 1994 . Directed by Mick Jackson , the screenplay was written by Robert King .
action
The private detective Maurice L. Pogue is said to testify in a trial against a mafioso. An explosion occurs near him, whereupon he loses his short-term memory. Every day he wakes up and has no memories of the day before. Pogue only remembers his assignment - the search for a valuable coin. As a remedy, he records a daily summary of the investigations on a tape recorder and listens to the recording the next morning.
Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the script had some funny moments, but only some of the gags would work. The line-up is "solid"; the main character can be liked thanks to Dana Carvey. The unsatisfactory result is still a wasted opportunity ("the lackluster results speak of a wasted opportunity").
The Lexicon of International Films wrote: "An action comedy that varies the delightful repetition scheme of the film ' Groundhog Day '."
backgrounds
The film was shot in Los Angeles and Santa Monica . It grossed approximately $ 7.5 million in US cinemas . In some countries like the UK it was released directly on video.
