Pets 2 (Original title: The Secret Life of Pets 2 ) is a computer animation film released by Illumination Entertainment in 2019 . The sequel to the film Pets was directed by Chris Renaud and Jonathan del Val .
The film opened on May 24, 2019 in the United Kingdom and Ireland , and in Germany on June 27, 2019.

Max and Duke's owner Katie marries Chuck and later has a baby. At first Max can't do much with little Liam, but he soon accepts him as a family member. After Max gets sick and feels itchy, he has to wear a protective collar . Shortly afterwards, the family goes on a trip to the country.
When they reach the farm, they meet the Welsh Sheepdog Rooster. After an incident with the farm's sheep, Rooster takes Max with him on a search for the missing animals. With the help of Rooster, Max can bring the animals back.
Before the trip, Max had given his favorite toy, the Busy Bee , to his friend Gidget. Gidget loses the toy, however, and it ends up in an old lady's apartment that houses numerous cats. After Chloe trains Gidget to behave like a cat, she can enter the apartment and bring the Busy Bee back.
Meanwhile, Chloe and Snowball meet the Shih Tzu Daisy, who needs the support of Captain Snowball to save the tiger Hu, who is being held captive in a circus. After a fight with a wolf pack, they can free Hu and bring him to Pops' apartment. At first he is not very enthusiastic about accommodating the tiger with him. After he accidentally destroyed half of his apartment, he has to be taken to Katie's apartment. When Katie returns from the farm with her family, Max and Duke, Hu is captured again by the circus operator. With the support of Snowball, Max, Gidget and the guinea pig Norman, Daisy and Hu can be freed again.

On Rotten Tomatoes , he holds a 57% rating based on 115 reviews and an average rating of 5.7 / 10. The bottom line was that the film "doesn't necessarily teach its animated stars new narrative tricks, but fans of the original should be satisfied with the fun, energetic sequel."
