Eric Stonestreet (born September 9, 1971 in Kansas City , Kansas ) is an American actor .

biography

Stonestreet graduated from Kansas State University in 1996 , whereupon he played at an improvisational theater in Chicago for two years before moving to Los Angeles to advance his acting career.

In addition to smaller film appearances, for example in 2000 in Almost Famous or in 2005 in Die Insel , Stonestreet was mainly seen in US television series. In the early years he played episode roles in Dharma & Greg , Malcolm in the Middle , Party of Five , Chaos City and Emergency Room . The investigative series CSI: Vegas hired him as a continuous role for 13 episodes from 2001 to 2005. Other episode roles, such as Crossing Jordan - Pathologist with Profile , Bones - The Bone Hunter , American Dad , Navy CIS or Monk followed, before he was cast as part of the main cast for the ABC series Modern Family . For the role of homosexual adoptive father Cameron Tucker , he was nominated for the Television Critics Association Award in 2010 and received the Primetime Emmy Award in 2010 and 2012 in the category of supporting actor in a comedy series . In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actor followed.

Although he embodies a homosexual man in his most famous role, Stonestreet is straight. His German dubbing voice in Modern Family is Robert Louis Griesbach .

Stonestreet is also featured in the 2014 music video for Weird Al Yankovics Tacky , a parody of Pharrell Williams Happy .
