Elizabeth "Ellie" Claire Kemper (born May 2, 1980 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is an American actress .

Private life

Elizabeth Claire Kemper was born the second of four children to Dorothy Ann Jannarone and David Woods Kemper. She comes from the family of banker William Thornton Kemper, Sr. (1866–1938). She is of German and Italian descent. Her younger sister is the author Carrie Kemper . She grew up in St. Louis and, after attending the John Burroughs School, studied at Princeton University , where she became interested in acting and improvisational comedy. In early July 2012, she married her long-time partner Michael Koman, a screenwriter and creative, in New York .

Career

From 2009 to 2013 she played the role of Kelly Erin Hannon in the US comedy series Das Büro . This was also followed by minor supporting roles in comedies such as Men’s Trip , Bridal Alarm and 21 Jump Street . She has played a leading role since 2015 in the series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , for which she was nominated for an Emmy in 2016 .
