Little Nicky - Satan Junior (Originally Little Nicky ) is a comedy film written, produced and starred by Adam Sandler .

Little Nicky is supposed to take over his father's business according to old tradition. But that's not an easy thing, because Nicky's father is the devil himself. And Nicky's first assignment already puts him in dire straits: he is supposed to use all means to get his two brothers Adrian and Cassius back from earth to the infernal realms. That is where the two renegade brothers fled to compete with their father and to take over the world themselves. As a result of their flight, the devil is dying and begins to fall apart. Nicky has to get the two devil sons to drink from a magic bottle into which they are then sucked.

When Little Nicky arrives in New York, Adrian and Cassius are already in the middle of seducing the whole city to sin. With the help of the talking bulldog Mr. Beefy, Nicky tries to prevent the worst from happening. Things get really complicated when he falls in love with the student Valerie.

Nicky finds his brother Cassius at a Harlem Globetrotters game , where he is about to stir up the audience. The brothers deliver a basketball match that Nicky wins over. He then claims that there is a devil's potion in the magic bottle that makes him stronger. When Cassius drinks from it, he is sucked into the bottle.

Adrian then takes over the body of the police chief and spreads that Nicky is a serial killer, whereupon he is hunted by half the population of New York. Nicky lures Adrian into the subway with a trick, but Adrian sees through the ruse and threatens Valerie's life. When Nicky sacrifices himself to save Valerie, he doesn't end up in hell again after his death, but in heaven. There he meets the angel Holly, his mother. Holly makes it clear to Nicky that he is half good and should not use the power of evil, but the power of good against Adrian. She also gives him a ball that she received from God.

In the meantime Adrian has taken over the throne of his father, whose decay is far advanced, and is going to earth with his entourage. Adrian and Nicky begin a fight in which Adrian uses the power of evil and Nicky the power of good. Sometimes one brother has the upper hand, then the other. When Adrian transforms into a bat, Nicky uses God's bullet, whereupon Ozzy Osbourne appears, bites off the bat's head and spits it into the magic bottle. Nicky then returns to Hell with the bottle. In order to be bad enough again, he sets thousands of bees on the actor Henry Winkler and saves his father.

On the advice of his father, Nicky finally returns to earth, marries Valerie and has a son.

Reviews

Adam Sandler's portrayal was praised, among other things, as “great”, but it was also heavily criticized, as by Gernot Gricksch in TV Today 5/2001 as “undercutting oneself”. The magazine TV Spielfilm 5/2001 described the film as "devilishly flat", film-dienst 4/2001 as "amusing". Björn Ahrens said in TV Movie 5/2001 that Sandler would be very "annoying" in the film with his "minimal facial expressions". He said that good actors like Patricia Arquette and Harvey Keitel would "make monkeys" in this film.

The film includes a scene referring to Sandler's first major success, Happy Gilmore . Here Nicky meets the ex-golf professional Chubbs Peterson, who died in Happy Gilmore, here again played by Carl Weathers .

The film's soundtrack includes some classics from rock history. For example Rock You Like a Hurricane from the Scorpions , or Highway to Hell from AC / DC , as well as When Worlds Collide from Powerman 5000 . The film's theme song is School of Hard Knocks by POD .

In the German dubbing, the comedian Hape Kerkeling took over the voice of the dog Mr. Beefy.

Cult director Quentin Tarantino has a brief guest appearance as a blind priest who recognizes the "evil" in Nicky on the street.

Adrian publishes a video that shows Nicky's supposed rampage. For this he used scenes from the film Scarface .
