Telecommunications office

Fernmeldeamt ( FA ) was the name of the local authorities of the telecommunications system of the Reichspost and later also of:

• Deutsche Bundespost (see Telecommunications Office (Deutsche Bundespost) ) and the
• Deutsche Post in the GDR (see Fernmeldeamt (Deutsche Post der DDR) ).

The name telecommunications office goes back to Heinrich von Stephan , who consciously wanted to displace Latin and Greek terms from official language.
