Telecommunications Office (Deutsche Bundespost)
There were 108 telecommunications offices (FA) of the Deutsche Bundespost . They were responsible for the provision of telecommunication services in the respective office area (telephone, telegraph and radio service, telecommunications construction and administrative tasks, in some cases the telegram service and the acceptance of telecommunications fees were also carried out by the post offices). In general, all the necessary services were available in a telecommunications exchange. Only in the big cities did several telecommunications offices share the work. The technology of data transmission was assigned to special telecommunications offices in Frankfurt and Hamburg (formerly known as the telegraph office).
tasks
A telecommunications office was divided into six areas of responsibility:
- Task area 1 - Administration
- Task area 2 - household
- Task 3 - Subscriber Services
- Task area 4 - Telephone service (hand) and telegram service
- Task area 5 - switching and transmission technology
- Task area 6 - line technology
If necessary, task areas 5 and 6 were subdivided due to the large extent:
- Task area 5 A - Planning and construction management for switching and transmission technology
- Task area 5 B - Technical telephone operation
- Task area 5 C - Technical telegraph operation
- Task area 5 D - transmission operation
- Task area 6 A - Planning and construction management for line technology
- Task area 6 B - Telecommunication construction and maintenance of lines
construction
The management of a telecommunications office consisted of the chief officer (AV) and the department heads (AbtL). The AV was responsible for the proper execution of all tasks assigned to the office. The AbtL independently managed the service of the departments subordinate to them according to the valid regulations and guidelines.
The staff council represented the interests of the staff at the management level.
