Rock You Like a Hurricane is one of the best known and most successful songs by the German hard rock band Scorpions . The music was written by the guitarist Rudolf Schenker , the lyrics by the singer Klaus Meine and the drummer Herman Rarebell .

The song was first released in 1984 as the second track on the Love at First Sting album. The song, which was released as a single in the same year, has since become an integral part of the band's live concerts; the song usually forms the end of a Scorpions concert. The song quickly developed into the Scorpions' most famous rock song. Even today the song is an integral part of every concert of the band worldwide, where it is usually played as the last song. Especially in the USA the song became a synonym for hard rock music of the 1980s and was often used in films. B. in Little Nicky - Satan Junior with Adam Sandler , The sugar-sweet death , role models ?! , in the Simpsons episode Tingeltangel-Bob's Revenge (season 7, episode 9) or the Stranger Things episode MAD MAX (season 2, episode 1). The song is part of the Rock of Ages soundtrack, where it is sung by Tom Cruise and Julianne Hough . The television broadcaster RTL used the orchestral version of the song for its anniversary broadcasts for her 25th birthday and used it to support the TV spots for the broadcasts. In 2010 the song was used in a television commercial for the Beck brewery .

The song is part of the computer games Guitar Hero III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories .

In 2008, Rock You Like a Hurricane was voted 18th in the VH1 Top 100 Hard Rock Songs. On a list of Pulse magazine's 1980s greatest guitar riffs, Rock You Like a Hurricane was ranked 4th. (First place went to Back in Black by AC / DC.)

Rock You Like a Hurricane is also regularly played at the home games of the Hannover 96 soccer team . In the games of the NHL team of the Carolina Hurricanes , the song is played when the players walk in. The orchestral version of Hurricane 2000 is played at the games of the NHL team Buffalo Sabers .

Foreigner's singer Kelly Hansen covered the song together with Dokken guitarist George Lynch. There is also a cover version of the band Green Day . The Australian duo The Veronicas also covered the song. The Japanese band Galneryus covered the song and released it in 2011 on their album Voices From The Past III . The band Bon Jovi covered the song on their world tour in 2011. B. at the concert on June 12th in Munich's Olympic Stadium.
