Deadly Sting is a best-of- album by the Scorpions , which in addition to already published songs from the period 1979 to 1988, Edge of Time, also includes a previously unreleased song.
Compilation
The album was released in 1995 by the record company EMI Electrola for the European market. The composition of the songs comes from the former Scorpions producer Dieter Dierks. The Scorpions had just completed their Face the Heat tour , which, like the album, was less successful than the previous tour to the Crazy World album. With the release of the best-of album, the record company wanted to draw attention to the band's successes in the 80s, which the consumers only partially liked. The sales figures lagged behind the band's previous best-of albums. This sampler contains all the great rock hits from 1979 to 1988. As a bonus, the song Edge of Time was released. From the albums Blackout , Love at First Sting and Lovedrive there are four tracks each, as well as two songs from the album Savage Amusement , plus the track Edge of Time , which was composed by Rudolf Schenker and written by Klaus Meine . This title is also featured on the US version of the live album Live Bites as a bonus. In 1997 a compilation was released in the USA and Canada under the title Deadly Sting-The Mercury Years , which combined the best-known and most successful songs from 1979-1993 on two CDs.

The album entered the German charts at number 28 and stayed in the charts for eleven weeks. In Austria the album reached number 38 in the charts. It sold about 500,000 times worldwide.
