Acoustica is the fourth live album and the first acoustic album by the band Scorpions . After the recordings with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the release of the joint album Moment of Glory , the band and Christian Kolonovits realized this project, which has long been requested by many fans.

Origin, production

The album was recorded live on three evenings in the Convento do Beato , a former monastery near Lisbon in Portugal . In addition to the band members, some guest musicians were there and played their newly arranged classics and some newly composed or selected cover songs with the Scorpions in front of a few hundred spectators.

Success and tour

The album reached number 13 in Germany and stayed in the German charts for 9 weeks. It was particularly successful in Southeast Europe, Asia and South America; in Brazil it went platinum. In total, the album sold over two million times worldwide.

During the 40-concert tour for the album, for example, they performed in Paris on the Place de la République (Paris) in front of 80,000 spectators, as well as in the Olympic Stadium in Seoul , South Korea , Malaysia, the Philippines , Indonesia , Bangkok , Thailand and for the first time in India in the city of Bangalore . In Germany they gave concerts on the Expo Plaza in Hanover, in Aachen and Travemünde and in other places.

Single release

When Love Kills Love , newly composed by Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine, was selected as the single . It also features a studio version of this song as well as the tracks Catch your Train and the Queen cover Love of my Life .

DVD

The concerts were also released on DVD, which was also very successful. In Brazil alone, the Scorpions were awarded a diamond record for more than 100,000 copies sold.
