Humanity - Hour I is a concept album by the German hard rock band Scorpions . The idea comes from Desmond Child. The album is based on a novel by Liam Carl and focuses on the war between humans and machines. The album was released on May 25, 2007 as the 16th studio album on the Airola label, in the USA and Canada it was released on August 28, 2007. It was produced by Desmond Child and James Michael in Los Angeles, who also act as backing vocals .

Music genre

According to Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions wanted to work with the best songwriters and producers for the production of their 21st album. They found this in the legendary producer Desmond Child ( Aerosmith , Alice Cooper , Kiss , Bon Jovi ) and in James Michael ( Alanis Morissette , Meat Loaf ). “There are a lot of people who say the classic concept album is dead. We see it differently and are swimming against the tide with our new CD. Desmond is a fabulous visionary who has taken us to musical levels that we have never reached before, ”said Rudolf Schenker in an interview. The band itself sees the style of the album as its own renewal. The well-known style of the band mixes with modern style elements. "... is a mature album, the lyrics of which are often provocative and also deal with the dark side of our everyday world," explains Klaus Meine. Matthias Jabs says about the album: “We delivered a strong oeuvre and are more self-confident than ever before.” For four months we worked on the new sound with Desmond Child and James Michael. At the beginning of the title piece, Klaus Meine interspersed two German words with the second line of text “… goodbye ” in the otherwise without exception English-language texts.

Album cover

For the first time in 33 years, the album cover does not show the usual Scorpions logo, but the lesser-known logo of the band, which can be seen on the albums Lonesome Crow (1972) and Fly to the Rainbow (1974). The famous band logo can be seen on the neck of the female android on the cover .
