The Best of Scorpions is the first compilation album by the German hard rock band Scorpions from 1979.

content

The album contains songs from the Scorpion albums between Fly to the Rainbow and Taken by Force . It doesn't include any songs from their debut album, Lonesome Crow . It should also be mentioned that the Japanese edition of this album contains the original version of The Sails by Charon with a length of 5:16 minutes. Other editions including the German edition and the US versions have an edited, shorter version of 4:24 minutes.

layout

The original German edition shows the buttocks of a young girl with a scorpion on it. The US re-release version of the cover shows a picture of a man wearing a leather jacket and a silver scorpion necklace. The Japanese edition has an alternative cover, it shows the bare bottom of a woman approached by a scorpion in a soap bubble.

reception

Barry Weber from Allmusic.com wrote that one should not think that the album is only for “Diehard” fans. The music is pretty enjoyable. It awarded four and a half stars out of five.
