Aunjanue Ellis
Aunjanue Ellis (born February 21, 1969 in San Francisco , California ) is an American actress .
Life
The African-American studies at Tougaloo College in Jackson ( Mississippi ), after she finished studying at Brown University as a Bachelor of Arts from. She then studied dramaturgy at New York University . The actress made her debut in an episode of the 1995 television series New York Undercover . She played one of the bigger roles in the comedy Girls Town (1996).
In the drama Men of Honor (2000), Ellis played the role of Jo , the wife of Carl Brashear ( Cuba Gooding junior ). For this role she was nominated for the Image Award in 2001. In the independent film The Opponent (2000) she played a larger role alongside Erika Eleniak , in the drama The Caveman's Valentine (2001) she starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson . Her role in the action comedy Undercover Brother (2002) earned her a 2003 Black Reel Award nomination .
As a member of the acting ensemble in the biopic Ray (2004), Ellis was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2005. In the comedy film Perception , she played a drug addiction-fighting school friend of Jen Marshall ( Piper Perabo ). In the television series E-Ring - Military Minds , in which she was seen in 2005 and 2006, she played the secretary of Colonel Eli McNulty ( Dennis Hopper ). From 2010 onwards, Ellis played the Madeleine Hightower in the crime series The Mentalist .
In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
