Alan Ball (born May 13, 1957 in Atlanta , Georgia) is an Oscar- winning screenwriter who became famous for his screenplay for the film American Beauty . He also works as a producer and director.

Life

Alan Ball is also the creator of the successful and award-winning HBO television series Six Feet Under - Always dies (2001-2005), for which he also worked as a producer and occasionally as a writer and director. On February 27, 2012, Ball resigned as the screenwriter of the mystery series True Blood .

In July 2016, HBO announced that they were collaborating with Alan Ball on a new drama series.

Ball is a graduate of Florida State University School of Theater .
