In 1973, gay Frank Bledsoe, professor at New York University, and his 18-year-old niece Beth traveled from Manhattan to Creekville. The funeral of the family patriarch Mac takes place in his small hometown.

The title role of Frank Bledsoe was cast with Paul Bettany . Sophia Lillis plays his niece Beth. Peter Macdissi took on the role of Frank's longtime partner Wally. Stephen Root plays the late Patriarch Mac.
The film premiered on January 25, 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival . In September 2020 it will be presented at the American Film Festival in Deauville.
