Charles Brookins

Charles Brookins ( Charles Robert Brookins; born September 17, 1899 in Oskaloosa , Iowa , † August 15, 1960 in Des Moines ) was an American hurdler .

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, he was disqualified in the final over 400 m hurdles for leaving his track after he had run in second.

In 1923 and 1925 he became the US champion over the 220 yard hurdles. In the same discipline, he became NCAA champions in 1922 and 1923 for the University of Iowa . He set his personal best over the 400 m hurdles of 52.8 s on June 14, 1924 in Cambridge .
