Banshee - Small Town. Big Secrets. (Original title: Banshee ) is an American television series that premiered on the pay-TV channel Cinemax on January 11, 2013 .

The series is an action crime series with numerous scenes of violence, sex and drama. A master thief is released from prison and takes on the identity of Lucas Hood, the designated sheriff of the fictional town of Banshee in the Amish state of Pennsylvania, where his former lover and accomplice Ana - who is now called Carrie - has moved. The boss of the Ukrainian mafia, Mr. Rabbit, who has been betrayed by the two, wants revenge for stolen diamonds. At the same time, Kai Proctor, an outcast, former member of the Amish, causes harsh morals in Banshee: through illegal gambling, drugs and bribery.

With Banshee , the American pay-TV broadcaster Cinemax received its highest ratings for a series in the first broadcast. An average of 433,000 viewers followed the first season live and 727,000 viewers in the following 7 days after the broadcast. The finale of the first season on March 15, 2013 saw 455,000 viewers in the first broadcast and 655,000 in the first repetition. After three episodes broadcast, the broadcaster announced at the end of January 2013 that it would be extended by a second season, which could be seen from January 10 to March 14, 2014. At the end of January 2014, the production of a third season was announced. The third season began broadcasting on January 9, 2015. Cinemax approved a fourth season of the format in February 2015, which, according to the broadcaster, is the last.
