Ben Cross
Harry Bernard "Ben" Cross (born December 16, 1947 in London ; † August 18, 2020 in Vienna ) was a British actor .
Life
Cross studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London . He made his debut in the early 1970s in an episode of the television series Wessex Tales , later he starred alongside Michael York in the television film The Great Expectations (1974). He played the Jewish athlete Harold Abrahams in the award-winning film drama Die Hour des Sieger (1981) .
Cross played the lead role of Ashton Pelham-Martyn in the television series Palace of the Winds , and other roles included Amy Irving , Christopher Lee , Omar Sharif and John Gielgud . In the television film Jagdfieber (1988), Cross played one of the leading roles alongside Mariel Hemingway , and he played alongside Pierce Brosnan in the thriller Hydrotoxin - The Bomb Ticks Inside You (1992) . In the film The 1st Knight (1995) with Sean Connery , Richard Gere and Julia Ormond , he was seen as the evil Prince Malagant. In 2009 he played the ambassador Sarek in the movie Star Trek . His work includes more than 90 film and television productions.
Cross was nominated three times for the CableACE Award : 1984 for the lead role in the television series Palast der Winde , 1989 for the lead role in the television film Jagdfieber and 1996 for his appearance in an episode of the television series Poltergeist - Die eheimliche Macht . In 1992 he was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award for his role in the television series Dark Shadows .
He was married to Penny Cross from 1977 to 1992, with whom he has two children, from 1996 to 2005 to Michele Moerth. In August 2018 he married the Bulgarian Deyana Boneva. Ben Cross died in August 2020 at the age of 72 years at a cancer .
