Amy Davis Irving (born September 10, 1953 in Palo Alto , California ) is an American actress , film producer and singer .

life and career

Amy Irving is the daughter of the theater director and actor Jules Irving (1925–1979) and the character actress Priscilla Pointer (* 1924). She was best known for her first film role in 1976 in Brian De Palma's film Carrie - Satan's Youngest Daughter . In 1984 she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Barbra Streisand's Yentl . She received a Golden Globe nomination for her roles in Anastasia (1986) and Sarah and Sam (1988) .

Irving married director Steven Spielberg on November 27, 1985 , and they divorced in 1989 - she is said to have received about 100 million US dollars on the basis of her marriage contract , and she receives half the broadcasting fees of all Spielberg films made during the marriage. From 1996 to 2005 she was married to the director Bruno Barreto . She has a son from a first and a second marriage.
