Priscilla Pointer (born May 18, 1924 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Priscilla Pointer was born in New York City to Kenneth K. Pointer and Augusta Leonora Davis. In the first part of her acting career, she mainly worked in the theater, for example as an actress in several Broadway productions. Occasionally she also took on guest roles on American television. It wasn't until 1976, when she was over 50 years old, that she moved to Hollywood. In the Stephen King film adaptation Carrie - Satan's Youngest Daughter (1976), she played the mother of schoolgirl Sue Snell , who was played by her real daughter Amy Irving . Subsequently, Pointer appeared in well-known films such as Blue Velvet (1986), in which she played the mother of the main character played by Kyle MacLachlan , or Nightmare 3 - Freddy Krueger Lives (1987).

From 1981 until his death in 2007 she was married to the actor Robert Symonds (1926–2007).
