Bob Gordon

Bob Gordon (* as Robert Gordon on 11. June 1928 in St. Louis , Missouri ; † 28. August 1955 in California ) was an American jazz - baritone saxophonist and bass clarinetist of modern jazz .

Live and act

Bob Gordon studied at Westlake College in Los Angeles in 1948/49 and initially played alongside Shorty Sherock , Lee Williams and Jimmy Palmer from 1946 . From 1948 to 1951 he worked with Alvino Rey , in 1952 with Billy May , 1952/53 with Horace Heidt and 1954 with George Redman . He was also involved in recording sessions with Red Norvo and Stan Kenton during this time . He has also recorded with Chet Baker , Tal Farlow , Maynard Ferguson , Herbie Harper , Bill Holman , Howard Rumseys Lighthouse All Stars , Shelly Manne , Jack Montrose , Lennie Niehaus , Pete Rugolo and under his own name.

The recordings with Clifford Brown are among his best. Like Eddie Costa and Scott LaFaro , he died at the beginning of a hopeful career as a result of a car accident.
